Marked is a Markdown reader and editor that runs entirely on your device. We operate no servers and we do not transmit any of your information to any external service.

Data the app processes

• .md/.markdown files that you explicitly open from Files, iCloud Drive or another app. Marked stores a bookmark to the file (a secure system reference) so it can reopen it in later sessions. The file content is never copied to a server.
• Reading preferences (theme, font, margins, line spacing, etc.) and reading progress (percent read per document). They are stored locally on your device via UserDefaults and SwiftData.

Data we do NOT collect

• Advertising identifiers.
• Usage data, telemetry, analytics or crash reports.
• Location, contacts, photos, health, etc.
• Accounts, email addresses or any personal data.

Sharing with third parties

We do not share data with third parties. The app makes no network connections.

Storage and iCloud

Files you open stay where you saved them (locally or in iCloud Drive). Marked does not copy your documents anywhere. Bookmarks and preferences live in the app's sandbox container and are removed when you uninstall the app.

Children

The app is not specifically directed at minors and does not collect any data, so by design it complies with COPPA and equivalent regulations.

Changes

If this policy is updated, a new version will be published in this same document, with the date at the top.
